Club Overview
Situated on a fifty kilometer stretch of Auckland's rugged west coast, Muriwai is renowned for it's stunning scenery, abundant wildlife and its sparkling black sand. The Muriwai Volunteer Lifeguard Service found its origins in 1948 after a series of near tragedies encouraged the local community to form a lifesaving club. For over sixty years Muriwai lifeguards have patrolled this isolated paradise, preventing injury and loss of life on one of Auckland's most popular beaches.
